The ACT Vision: The Trucking industry has gone through a lot of changes since Chaplain Jim Keys moved to Illinois, and The Association of Christian Truckers has endeavored to change as well. As uncomfortable as change can be, we are believing God to keep us in tune with the ones that we are called to reach and serve. The Truck Drivers of North America have been the focus of ours for almost 40 years, and that will never change, even if the methods do. About 15 years ago Jim Partnered ACT with Gospel Crusades of Bradenton Florida. With 1200 churches covering the Globe, the Derstine Family had a rock solid reputation for Evangelistic Outreach, so bringing Phil Derstine on board as the President of ACT, Was a wise choice for taking ACT to the next generation Since that time the Road Angel Property in Brownstown Illinois, that is the home for ACT, has seen many improvements. The main building, which was originally meant for building mobile chapel’s, has a large meeting room that is used for the Road Angel Café, as well as a church sanctuary. There is a kitchen, restrooms, and upstairs administrative offices and a couple motel style sleeping rooms for visiting ministers. Across the large truck friendly paved parking lot is the “Shower” building with a laundry room and a after hours drivers lounge with snacks and free coffee. Stop in and you will soon see that a lot of effort has gone into making visiting truckers feel at home. With all that has been done already, there is still much more to do to keep ACT on the cutting edge of Trucking Ministry. This year in January, Dean Hufford became the first among what will be many Driver /Ministers utilizing the traveling aspect of trucking to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to North America and beyond. Our goal is to empower the truckers to be the next generation of Ministers. It is our hope that as you browse this website, talk to one of our members, or even take the time to visit us in Brownstown Illinois, that you will catch the vision that is ACT enough to be a partner to this a vibrant and growing ministry to the knights of the road, the American Trucker.
